Chairman Curtis Taylor
Deacon Aaron Hargrove
Deacon George Lacour
•The word “deacon” comes from the Greek word “diakonos,” which literally means servant or minister. This role isn’t about power or control; it’s about service. In Acts 6, we see the first deacons appointed to solve a practical problem in the early church, allowing the apostles to focus on prayer and teaching the Word.
•To take care of the physical and logistical needs of the church so that the Pastor and elders can concentrate on their primary calling. This distinction is based on the pattern found in Acts 6:1–6. The apostles were devoted “to prayer and to the ministry of the word”
•Teach, preach, lead ceremonies, and provide pastoral care. They also help the Pastor with the church’s temporal needs, such as caring for the meeting house and grounds, and helping those in need.
•Care for the security for those in attendance at church activities, always vigilant for the comfort and safety of everyone present. This include opening the building before gathering and closing the building after the gathering.
•Assist with the communion service. Including placing the communion table, preparing the bread and grape juice.
•Lead devotion and manage the offering service.
•Assist with Baptismal Ceremony.
•Join with Pastor and Elders in visiting church members. Maybe assigned geographical areas or certain number of members for deacons and deaconess in teams of two or three.
